Precision slitting shears are needed to cut the metal strip simultaneously into several narrow strips.

The b+s slitting shears are developed and manufactured for your individual cutting task:

• Manual or electromotive adjustment of the overcut,
• mechanical or digital display of the overcut,
• fully automatic tool change with tool changer in front of the slitting shear,
• fully automatic slitting shear,
• Slitting shear designed as changeover shear with turntable,
• manual or hydraulic traversing movements as well as
• technologically sophisticated CNC precision slitting shears with hydraulically inflatable slitter shafts and automatic clamping nut,
• Requirements for handling and set-up times.

For larger coil weights, the material is loaded onto the decoiler with a coil car. For higher productivity, a coil storage system and a core storage system can be used, as well as a coil gripping system to automatically load the decoiler or unload the empty core.

The coil car is used to remove the wound coils from the mandrel. Small coil weights are taken off manually or with a C-hook. For larger coil weights, b+s supplies the optimal coil unloading systems such as coil cars and turnstiles.

Precision lines, such as slitting or cut-to-length lines, produce scrap martial in small quantities. Therefore, b+s offers different options for edge strip handling.

Depending on the thickness of the material, the width of the edge strip and the speed of the line, the scrap strips are wound, chopped up or removed. Each time, the focus is on reducing the scrap content per coil to a minimum.

b+s develops different and automatic scrap disposal systems for a rewarding process flow.

The cut strips are wound into a ring (coil) in a slitting line.

Material properties and productivity determine whether the strips are wound after the slitting shear with direct tension and friction system or with loop and brake system.

Flange type reel mandrels for quick changeover as well as with automatic winding compensation are our standard.

Quick change devices and hydraulic quick clamping devices for the reel mandrels can be supplied.

Burrs are one of the biggest obstacles to precision manufacturing and the automation of manufacturing processes. They arise in manufacturing processes as plastic deformations in the material and are defined as undesirable material protrusions beyond the workpiece edge. They cause problems in the inspection, assembly and factory automation of metal components.

Accurate measurement of the burr height is essential to characterize burr formation and to determine procedures to avoid or minimize the burr. b + s and FocalSpec have worked together to develop a new, non-contact and optical cutting burr height measurement system for quality control of cutting processes.
